This feature requires a Pro license.

Virtual Camera allows OmniScope to appear as a webcam to other applications on your system. Any software that supports webcam input (Zoom, Teams, OBS, etc.) can receive video from OmniScope.

Overview

Virtual Camera is useful for:

  • Sharing your scope view in video calls

  • Recording OmniScope output in screen recording software

  • Using OmniScope as a video source in streaming applications

  • Remote collaboration and review sessions

Requirements

  • OmniScope Pro license

  • macOS: macOS 12.3 or later

  • Windows: Virtual camera driver (installed with OmniScope)

Setup

Enabling Virtual Camera

  1. Go to View > Output Settings or click the output icon in the toolbar

  2. Select Virtual Camera from the output type dropdown

  3. Configure the output settings

  4. Click Enable to activate the virtual camera

Using the Virtual Camera

Once enabled, the virtual camera appears in other applications:

In Zoom

  1. Open Zoom Settings > Video

  2. Select "OmniScope Camera" from the camera dropdown

In Microsoft Teams

  1. Open Settings > Devices

  2. Select "OmniScope Camera" under Camera

In Other Applications

Look for "OmniScope Camera" or "OmniScope Virtual Camera" in the webcam/camera selection.

Performance Considerations

  • CPU usage: Virtual camera encoding uses CPU resources

  • Resolution: Higher resolutions require more processing power

  • Frame rate: 30fps is recommended for most video call applications

Platform Notes

macOS

The virtual camera uses the system's Camera Extensions framework (macOS 12.3+). No additional drivers are required.

Windows

The virtual camera driver is installed automatically with OmniScope. If the camera doesn't appear:

  1. Check that the driver is installed in Device Manager

  2. Restart the application that should receive the camera

  3. Try restarting OmniScope

Troubleshooting

Camera Not Appearing in Applications

  1. Ensure Virtual Camera is enabled in OmniScope

  2. Restart the receiving application

  3. Check that no other application is exclusively using the virtual camera

  4. On Windows, verify the driver is installed in Device Manager

Poor Quality

  1. Increase the output resolution in settings

  2. Ensure OmniScope has adequate CPU resources

  3. Close unnecessary applications

Lag or Stuttering

  1. Reduce the output resolution

  2. Lower the frame rate to 30fps

  3. Check CPU usage and close resource-intensive applications

Tips

  • Use Scopes mode to share your full analysis view during remote sessions

  • Lower resolution works well for video calls and reduces CPU load

  • The virtual camera works simultaneously with other outputs (NDI, SRT)
